Back From Zambia

I have the most exciting news!! I have just returned home from my 30-day trip to Zambia, Africa, and SO many incredible things are happening on the ground over there that I feel compelled to share some of the good news with you!

For starters, our new initiative within the Father’s Heart program to have Community Resource Centers (CRC’s) in each of the various communities we serve has proved to be an enormous blessing to the children and to the 183 Family Legacy staff members, most of whom work in the field on a daily basis with these precious kids.  I went around and visited them along with my sister Heather Ransom, who is now our new Father’s Heart Program Director on the ground in Zambia…she is LOVING it there!! Her heart is one of the purest I’ve ever known to see these kids fully restored, ministered to, and have their essential needs met. Also, her skills set in leading and directing this program is invaluable…plus the Zambians all just adore her and really respect her leadership! Praise the Lord for great sisters!

The Discipleship Leaders on the ground are so thankful to have the CRC’s and testify that they are the PERFECT solution to making an impact on these children in a much deeper way. Every morning at “8:00 hours” (as they like to say ;), the Discipleship Leaders, together with their CRC Supervisor, meet at their particular CRC for prayer over their kids and the ministry. Each Discipleship Leader on average has about 20 sponsored kids that they are responsible for. At least once a month they are visiting the child’s home and praying/ministering to their care-takers.  Also, they are diligently writing reports and inputting them into each sponsored child’s personal notebook. These notebooks are then taken to our office on a weekly basis and input into the Zambian Database.

I was so pleased to randomly show up at the CRC’s and find Father’s Heart kids enjoying themselves there…whether it was through reading the Bible, playing with toys, hanging out with their friends at the CRC’s after school, getting help with their school work from our DL staff, eating the latest greatest cooked nshima and vegetables, finding their temporary home there until our staff could work something out with Social Welfare, learning and practicing the Evange-cube, writing letters/coloring pictures for their sponsors, or filling up on some yummy maheu and bread…it all just brought so much joy to my heart to see first-hand the measureless impact that the Father’s Heart Program is having in the lives of these most treasured kids. I love knowing that these kids now have a place of refuge to run to in the midst of their hard-pressing circumstances…the Lord is so good and we just continually thank and praise Him for HIS provision for the children of Zambia.
