What are Community Resource Centers?
Community Resource Centers (CRCs) were developed and established during the summer of 2008. These centers were put in place to provide a 24 hour presence in the community where the children live. The CRCs are designed to be a safe-haven for any child who needs a place to go if he or she is in an unsafe situation. They are each strategically located in the areas of Lusaka in which we currently work. The children have the ability to come and go as they desire.
- Currently 19 out of 21 Community Resource Centers are up and running!
The CRCs are supervised by Family Legacy Staff who organize activities for the children to reinforce the lessons, scriptures, and songs learned at Camp LIFE. Each resource center is a two to three bedroom structure with living space for our Zambian staff as well as space for children who need to stay somewhere in emergency situations. We also have some children who need a more permanent place to live so we setup bunk beds in each of the CRCs to provide a home for a child who has been abandoned or has no where else to go but the streets.
We believe that God has led us to develop the CRCs in order to live among the children in their communities and bring the light of Jesus into their dark worlds!
