We are still trying to bring power to the village and are about 35% of the way to our $380,000 goal. We received news that a generous donor will be matching every dollar given in the next 30 days up to $100,000. So every dollar you give for the next 30 days will go double towards helping us open new houses to children this summer! Read more about Powering Up the Village or you can donate now.

Please share this video with others, embed it on your own site and send it out on Facebook. Help us raise $100,000 in the next 30 days and we can double it!

We have been enjoying some older Camp LIFE videos the past few weeks and thought we should share with you. They come from a time when video editing wasn’t quite as advanced, but the lives of the children were being changed the same as today.
In this video from 2004, a group of orphans hear that Jesus loves them for the very first time. In response they begin singing Hallelujah Hosanna! At the point in time that this video was shot, the children had already been singing for 40 mintues because of their new-found hope in Jesus Christ!!! As you can see, they are so excited that no one can stop them from singing.

Beauty also lives with the very painful disease called Sickle-Cell Anemia, where extreme acute pain will attack her body for days at a time on a bi-monthly basis. Now at Tree of Life, Beauty has FULL access to the highest quality medical care, as well as a balanced diet that is necessary to assist her in her condition. She loves everything about her new life — nice warm clothes, plenty of food, a real family with LOTS of siblings, and she simply adores her new house mom Euphemia! Beauty wants to be a doctor when she grows up and is thriving in school! Watch her testimony that she shares in the video below about how much she praises the Lord for bringing her and her young cousin Temba to live in Lahema’s House at the Tree of Life Children’s Village! Before you watch, know that Beauty shares some very shocking details about her life before moving to the Tree of Life.

One of the big lessons we were reminded of with the Tree of Life Children’s Village opening this year is why we are doing what we do. Why are we concerned for children who live over 10,000 miles away? Why do you pack up for a few weeks in the summer in order to travel to a third-world country?

The kids who live at the Tree of Life were rescued from some of the most horrible situations in all of Zambia. Knowing where they came from and seeing their smiling faces in their new lives gives us a good picture of why we are working for the orphans of Zambia. In the video below Nora shares the story of her life before moving into the Tree of Life. She will always carry the scars from her previous experiences, but as Psalm 71:20 says “You who have made me see many troubles and calamaties, will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again.”

Camp LIFE 2009 has mostly come to a close. We will continue to have camps in Lusaka and the remote areas throughout the year until we’ve given away every single backpack and Bible. We would like to thank all of the Ambassadors who gave up their time to come share the love of Christ with the orphaned and vulnerable children of Zambia. We also thank our Zambian staff for their endless devotion to these children and we ask that you pray for them as they continue to preach the love of Christ in the compounds of Zambia for the rest of the year. They will be daily in the field looking after and discipling your sponsored children.

Below is a video with highlights from all 8 weeks of camp this summer. Don’t forget signups for Camp LIFE 2010 start September 1st.
